UIA home and contents insurance and a lost ipod

Hi all,
I have just managed to lose my Ipod touch (64gb), no idea how I managed it. My wife and I saw me put it in the car along with a book as we were on the way to the hospital and I thought we may have a wait. On arrival, no ipod, I have taken the car to bits a few times and scoured the house, but I can't find it. The only thing we can think of is I either left it on the roof of the car, but not likely as we were waved off by relatives who would probably have seen it. Or it fell out as i opened the door at the hospital and I somehow missed it. Anyway, I have rung our insurer, UIA, and they tell me I am not covered under 'unspecified items' and I didn't specifically specify they item.
Does anybody have any experience of this? Am I definitely not covered?
Thanks for any help.
p.s. I have tried 'find my iphone' feature but ipod is registered offline

Not familiar with UIA but their website says that items such as laptops and contact lenses need to be specified.
Check your wording - Section C.0 -
Now you have reported this loss it will be recorded and you must disclose it to other insurers you approach for cover in the future irrespective of whether or not you end up getting a claim out of them.
Next time you have a possible claim, check the policy before reporting in to your insurer.0
