train travel

We wanted to use evouchers at redspottedhanky.com and checked cost of open return family ticket Ely-London (with Family and Friends railcard) - quoted £61.20. Also checked trainline.com and same price quoted. In the event we didn't get the evouchers in time and had to pay walk up price at the station - £51.50 for the same ticket. So much for 'cheap discounted tickets' from these websites!

Is it possible you were actually sold a different ticket at the station? Such as an off peak or super off peak. It does happen.
Sometimes no matter what research I do the price on walk up is different. (Usually more expensive though).
Ticket buying is such a minefield.

Also is it possible you were given a groupsave discount (when 3 or 4 travel for the price of 2). This would not have shown up on booking online unless you deliberately put it in or know where to find it.
    Back on the trains again!
