I had my insurance policy cancelled through no fault of my own (theres 2 same numbered houses with the same postcode, one on a mews but the road name and the other just the road name so I never recieved letters asking to send documents hence I got stung
...)
Ive been on comparison sites declaring this cancelled policy and obviously only get about 5 matches the cheapest being insurethebox at under 900 and the rest being in excess of 1800, obviously this is a massive difference and I know which I would rather be paying. However I keep reading mixed reviews about this company.
Im happy with the 8000 mile limit and having the tracker on the car however if I want to change policy after a year do I still get NCB and do I have to declare the cancelled policy forever?
Has anyone got any positive feedback about this company/horror stories?
Any help appreciated

They usually ask have you ever had a policy cancelled. So if they ask that you need to answer yes.
You say your happy with 8000 mile limit. But someone posted on here their sons limit was 6000 miles. And the would only add 250 miles at a time.
And not cheap either.
I normally do much less than 6000 miles, But a family matter caused me to do that in a few months.
Insure the box would have been a nightmare. £80 for an extra 250 miles?
And they know instantly if your going to go over your limit.
They know where you are and how you drive.
I imagine in the future we will all have them, But too many restrictions currently.
No flexibility.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The limit they gave me was 8000 rather than the 6000 option which is what I normally put for quotes, doubt think I'd go over too bad, think the extra mileage came up cheaper too so I assume it's different for everyone and gave the option of 1000 mile increases at about 70/80 (dont quote me on that for def though but it wasnt any scary amount that came up)... I've passed the point of driving for fun and all my family live local, petrol costs at the moment also dictate how much I'd be travelling so that as a restriction really doesn't bother me.
Since having my policy cancelled I've been remembering what the things at the end of my legs are for but my car is registered as use for my disabled son so I can't tax it without insurance and the tax has just run out causing a whole headache with if I should SORN it etc
A thousand pounds is a lot of difference to pay though and they were offering the best pay monthly option even with declaring a cancelled policy, I just don't want to take a risk of anything going wrong though when my choices are already limited...
Not quite sure how they work things though because my 23 year old brother went to get a quote from them an they wanted nearly 7000 for a 1.2 Clio worth 800, yet they can offer me insurance more than half any other company can0 -
2000 extra miles would cost 138 on the policy...0

Where did you get that price from?
Ahh i see they allow blocks of 250 - 2000 miles now.
But if you needed an extra 6000 miles, Thats nearly half the cost of the policy again. if your figures are right.
But they can charge £200 for 250 miles. You pay or you cancel and go elsewhere.
Its the unknown issue that put me off. And they could say sorry your driving is not upto standard, Our box says you brake harshly or corner too fast.
Too many variables with them holding all the cards, And your hand is dealt blindly.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Why was the policy cancelled?
If the insurer sent requests for information to the wrong address you seem to have grounds for complaint.0 -
most probably the postie delivered wrongDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Post is one of my biggest issues, post gets delivered to the wrong house, I've had parcels clearly marked with just the road I've had to receiver to them. Apparently the insurance company said I'd given the wrong address yet it was done online with a broker of a certain Australian female sounding company and whoever the company was providing the finance managed to write to me correctly to tell me it was cancelled and I never dealt with them, only the broker could of. Had the original policy letter through too .... they said there was nothing they could do though as they pinned it on me giving the wrong address.
I got that price from the quote they gave me, under where they put how much it will be in full or installments there's a bit that says 'add more miles?'
If I was to use them for a couple of years and really limit my use of the car would having a bit of NCB help bring the cost down with other companies or would the cancellation always override that?0
