Play.Com- Return on Faulty DVD Recorder?

Can anyone advise me please?
I bought a Daewoo DVD recorder in January from Play.com at a cost of £80.
I've had it for less than 3 months and suddenly it lost it's signal, couldn't play DVD's and couldn't get the TV station up on the AV channels and couldn't record. Basically, it cannot be tuned in, automatically or manually.
Hubby has done some research on some forums about this DVD recorder and apparently this model has a known fault of the internal tuner, which Daewoo won't acknowledge as being a fault....
Having been on to Play.com tonight, they say they only accept returns within 28 days of purchase???
Can anyone advise me on my right in this situation, wouldn't really want a refund, would prefer a replacement.
Thanks,
DM

Did you tell them it is faulty and want it replaced?
It seems to me they think you have just changed your mind and want a refund.0 -
If it is faulty Play by law have to offer a repair, replacement or refund
I have found Play.coms returns people very good when I got a faulty keyboard, the replacement arrived broken and they then refunded completely including return postage costs.0 -
I have had refunds from Play.com for faulty goods along with postage costs - you need to get a receipt for the postage as they dont seem to just be able to take the postage on the packaging as proof !! No problems...I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0

They have been very difficult so far, I have said I'd just like it replaced, I'd accept an equivilant model as they don't sell the one I bought and I would also pay for postage/packing and if I have to pay extra for a machine.
Will try them again today, Thanks.£2 Coin Savers Club (Christmas)- £86£1 Jar (Christmas)- £29Christmas Vouchers Saved: £1450
