it seems I can do it during normal business hours, but not in the evenings - which is a bit frustrating as the only time I'm likely to use it???

Mine's fine too. Are you using the same computer during business hours and evenings? If not, it could be a browser problem.

The EDF login page is a secure one (https). The problem might lie there. IE (IE9 anyway) doesn't normally remember passwords for secure pages, but Firefox will.
Are you getting an error message?

  • I can't login to EDF's customer account page having just switched to BlueThingy tariff a few days ago and got my account number.

I normally use the Opera browser, but the same problem exists with IE as well. Essentially there is no response from the other end when I try to visit the site.

Disabling security one at a time seems like the best option, and phoning their free phone-number; judging from my experience earlier in the week when I was on hold for 45 mins (speakerphone most of it) and then got cut off without my call being answered, fiddiling with the settings seems like the best option.

Kaspersky. Log-in to router and turn off its firewall. Try both at the same time.

I'm with Virgin Media; could it be an ISP related issue? Is the OP with them?

to log into my EDF customer account and then get the 'problem loading page' error message. I only want to submit a meter reading and have even got that far to then get the above error message - very frustrating.

Can it be because we are both on VirginMedia?

Can't be VM. I use them and can login to my account with IE9, Chrome and Firefox.

I tried phoning them a few times, but they dont answer.
  • I tried phoning them once; I was on hold for about 40-45 minutes (most of it on speakerphone for obvious reasons, I'm glad the handset was fully charged) before getting cut off. Maybe it was a one off, perhaps if I call them now I'll get through immediately? (yeah, right).

I tried disabling Kaspersky security, and the router's firewall with little effect, though I did after several attempts and different browsers manage to do enough from my PC to register my details online, and to acknowledge the activation email for online access. And then it all stopped working again.

Oddly, I had no problems logging in from my iPod touch and checking everything through its browser, though that is most definitely not my preferred way of using their website in future.

I've had no problems like this with any other website whatsoever, and I use a helluva lot of them, so there must be something about what EDF are doing that is incompatible with certain software setups which result in them refusing to talk to each other.
  • The website loads and comes out in gobbledegook! I phone, they don't answer, I e-mail, they don't reply. The EDF robot lady on the phone told me my call was important. She lied!
