I'm 18 at the end of April and was wondering, when would be the best time to open a student account, are all the offers for sighing up out for 07/08 or will some really good ones come along soon?

Banks do not tend to reveal their 'student incentive'cards until late April/May time...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200

and you may need proof of university student status to get the account anyway, so that isn't likely to be until later in the summer.:happyhear0
