Hey there guys,
I have spent a few house on here and googleing but its a mindfield out there. We are looking into having a baby, but before we do i want to know what we are entitled to with her stopping working.
Currently my wife works 40 hours a week and is on minimum wage. She has been told that if she goes onto Mat leave, she is entitled to 90% of her wage, or £140 a week (i think she said) or which ever is lowest.(also willing to work up untill as close to due date as possible)
I currently earn about 23 - 24k a year.
Could anyone please tell me as and what benefits we are entitled to.
Ie, child tax credits, Working T C, Council tax benefits, rent ect ect.
I have 1 daughter, pay maintenance but not through the CSA, just from bank to bank.
Thanks very much in advance.
Tim.

You will be entitled to WTC, CTC and Child Benefit once the baby is born, however on your income I wouldn't have thought you would get any housing or council tax benefit.0

definately no WTC and obly a small amount of CTC.
the cut off for WTC is about 18k, and 26k for CTC with 1 child. the £30 a week in SMP that needs declaring to tav credits would make their annual income about £25.5 a year0 -
Also bear in mind depending on when baby arrives you may get NO Tax Credits at all that year.
eg £26K is the cut off for 1 child, so if you earn £24K she can only earn £2K that year before your entitlement is zero - so it will all depend on the time of year - but be prepared for this situation.0 -
Here is the info. for tax credits since there appears to be differing opinions.

Scroll down for table for WTC and CTC together.0 -

If you are paying CSA and when you have the child, your CSA payments will be reduced slightly due to the fact you have a dependant child.0
