Blackpool Illuminations - Parking?

Hi All,

I'm off to Blackpool tomorrow night to see the lights with my OH and our Daughter. I don't know Blackpool very well and wondered where is best to park as we want to walk down the prom not drive. We are coming from Lancaster direction and we have a blue badge for our Daughter so don't want to park our car to far from the prom.

Many thanks.

  • If I were you I'd not try to park in the centre of Blackpool, traffic can be pretty bad and the roads are confusing.

One option I suggest is to head towards Little Bispham, which is between Cleveleys and Bispham. It's beyond the end of the illuminations but there's a tram to/from here every 10 minutes in the evening. Plenty of free parking and it's a quiet, safe area.

I don't know what your daughter's disability is, but the trams are wheelchair accessible and if you buy a day pass you can get on and off wherever you want. The 'day saver' is £9 for a family.

Of course if you've set off already it's too late!

It may be too late for this advice but I agree with Billy-no-money.

Try and park at Bispham, where the lights start/end (depending on direction of travel)

There's plenty of side streets off the main road where you can park and tram stops within a short walk.

I'd deffo walk from North end of the lights to South as there's little to no parking at all at the South end, unless you are lucky enough to get a space on the road at the side of the Pleasure Beach where the Travellodge is. But i can't think of any other free parking around there.

You mention you have a Blue badge, there are on-road parking bays down the prom, but I'm not sure if they have any restrictions on parking time.

Maybe someone else will be along who can verufy this.
