DVD-RW

Just got a DVD drive. THe format is '-' drive.

Q: I understood that RW meant that you can Rewrite several times, and also remove files that have been written? BUt i now understand not.

Would someone clarift that for me pls.

DVD-RW is like a Floppy disk. You can change files on a floppy disk (eg Delete files from a floppy disk).

DVD-R is more like a Music CD. You cant change the files on the CD once they are saved to it.

it's the same as CD-R/CD-RW mostly, -R is write once, -RW is rewriteable

the only other differnce with DVD's is the +/- which just denotes which standard the DVD is written in, sort of like Betamax/VHS of olden times(though DVD players are better in that quite a few cope with both)

Hi, I have a DVD+/- RW but when I try to play a - ???dvd it says I need some kinda decoder software or hardware.

Can Anyone help me out with this. plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
