0800 numbers with BT

I have just been told by an orange rep that 0800 numbers are going to be charged by BT at 3ppp from next year.

Anyone else heard if this is true or just a rumour/sales tactic?

Thanks

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Car Insurance Carver!
That'd be a bit difficult as Ofcom mandates that 080 and 0500 numbers must be free to callers from ALL UK landlines.

There are moves afoot to bring down or even remove the rip-off charges mobile operators make for such calls at the moment though.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Wot a load of old cobblers from the Orange Call Centre rep.

BT announced the following changes from Jan next year.

The standard line rental price increases from £14.60 to £15.45
The set-up fee price increases from 13.1p to 13.87p
The daytime pence per minute price increases from 7.95p to 8.41p
The evening pence per minute price increases from 1.05p to 1.11p
The Unlimited Anytime Plan increases from £4.90 to £5.15. However, this is still cheaper than TalkTalk and Virgin Media - and we're freezing the price until 2014. Plus, you can avoid the set-up fee, daytime and evening pence per minute price increases by taking this plan
The Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan increases from £3.15 to £3.30
We're also increasing the Payment Processing Fee from £1.89 to £2.00. But you can easily avoid this charge by switching to pay by Direct Debit or Monthly Payment Plan
We're increasing early termination charges for people who leave before the end of their contract

NO mention of charging for Freephone Calls.Ofcom would have had something to say about that

hmmmm, i'm sure talktalk only charge me £4.50 for the unlimited plan, so how can BT claim that £5.15 is cheaper?
