Divorce settlements in the modern world

OK, first off, it's not me, it's a friend of mine (really).
He and his wife seperated about 2 yrs ago now, as she decided she wanted them to. He wasn't happy about it (he'd lost his dad after a couple of years with cancer within the previous 6 months) and wanted them to stay together, and they've 2 kids under 10.
To start with he found somewhere to rent and they split care for the kids 50:50, so neither of them paid anything to the other (and she earns about £22k or so, whereas he earns about £5k less).
She stayed in the family home and paid the mortgage.
Lately the kids wanted to spend more time at "home" as they were finding it hard living in 2 homes, so he agreed to this as it was best for the kids.
Now she's said she wants a divorce and has a new boyfriend. She wants the house sorted out as she might want to move in with the new bloke.
So, on the one hand she's been paying the cost of the family home since they split, but on the other hand he's been having to pay more in rent (for a lesser property) and has to have a home big enough for the kids too as they now split it roughly 2:5 days, sometimes 3:4 days.
The house is worth about £130k, with £45k mortgage.
Any views on what would be fair would be appreciated.

All these situations are hard to call as an outsider. However as child care has been fairly evenly split and as she has potentially two incomes (hers and b/f's) then probably a 50/50 split is reasonable to expect.0

Divorce settlements also look at future needs. So if the children stay with the mother, she may get a greater share in order to be able to house, clothe & feed the kids.
Not an exact science as each settlement depends on the precise circumstances.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
