parking ticket advice please

i wonder if anyone could help me.
i recieved a parking ticket today near southport.
i was parked (this is the best i can describe) on a triangle of land , where other cars were parked there were double yellows on the road but i wasnt parked on the road. there was the pavement then this land i parked on.
after looking on the internet i found somthing about the double yellows include the pavement but not the land after it.
should i appeal against it or am i wasting my time?
also on the ticket i was printed that my car was black but it isnt ,it is grey could this be a technicalty?
the warden was an absolute ****** and wouldnt listen . wouldnt explain his actions and kept winking at me saying "you had better appeal if your not happy"trying to wind me up even more. there were brand new BMWs ,hondas and mercs parked on double yellows and i asked him about this but he said he couldnt see the double yellows because of the sand then drove off on his moped!!

i know someone will probably say i should admit my mistake and pay the fine but if i knew i had a chance of getting a ticket there i obviously wouldnt have parked there.
we only went for a cheap day out now it has cost a fortune.
any advice would be welcome
