Advice & Help Needed :)

I bought a brand new vauxhall corsa in 2005 and had finance with GMAC, i also bought another new vauxhall astra in 2008 once id sold the corsa again this was through GMAC, I cant find any paperwork as i remember getting rid of it earlier this year so i dont have any account numbers etc so i dont know if i would have been mis sold ppi! How do i go about seeing if was paying ppi? Ive also got 3/4 credit cards which im unsure if i got ppi on them, how would i go about finding this out?
Many thanks in advance

You could try phoning Gmac and ask them if you had PPI on your loans and if you did to send you details - or you could send them a SAR request (see "sticky" near top of the page) which costs £10

If you are paying PPI on your credit cards it will show up on your monthly statements.

Does it matter who the lender is? You complain to the dealer that sold it. Not the lender.

    look at your statements.

Bit of an update, rang gmac asked for a copy of my agreements, they said got to be done in writing and as there were 2 agreements enclose a cheque for £2. Did that received the letter from them containing only the 2005 agreement (had a look but no ppi on it) but in the enclosed letter they gave me the agreement number for the 2008 agreement, so i rang up today and gave the other agreement number and they couldn't find it on file? Am i missing something here, how can they have a 2005 agreement but no 2008 one? alarm bells started ringing thinking i have had ppi on it and thats why they don't want to send it!
Any Advice on what to do next
    Cheers

Humans are not perfect and mundane jobs like filing can often see things put in the wrong place. Or it could be that their current system is better at removing obsolete records than their legacy system.

Seeing as you are asking the lender and the lender is not liable, there is no reason for them to do that.

Send the complaint to the dealer that sold you the car, you are wasting time with the finance company.

Give the FSCS a call, they may be able to help, unless dunstonh knows better.

I think you are wasting your time with FSCS unless you can actually find out if you had PPI on this 2008 loan. Even then, you'll need valid and verifiable mis-selling complaint reasons to qualify for the compensation scheme.
You'll have egg all over your face if you "complain" and then find you didn't actually have PPI (like the 2005 loan).

Remember, you can't complain simply because you have a PPI policy, it has to have been mis-sold to you.
