Narked off with seller

Won several items from one seller.
Sent message after first one ended asking if I could collect Saturday. They said that was fine but wanted payment via paypal first. Told them as was bidding on other items I would wait see if I win others.
Requested revised invoice minus postage. Recieved it and paid.
I've now received a message from seller saying I've sent payment but not arranged collection, they can do tomorrow but can not do over the weekend.
It's not that local to me, but local to family so was going to combine collecting it with a visit. Tomorrow isn't good for me and prefer not to ask family as its a 15-20 min drive each way but would be enroute for us. It's also very short notice as wouldn't be able to contact family to collect until at least mid-afternoon tommorrow.
Really annoyed with seller that they agreed a day and now claim we hadn't and they are not avaliable. They even replied in the same thread where we agreed the day (can scroll down to see our previous messages if you understand what I mean). I sent a message reminding them that I asked to collect Sat before they asked for paypal payment.
We'll have to sort out mutially convenient time, but what a way to annoy your buyer!

I'm suprised they didnt ask for cash on collection as they are not covered by paypal if you collect.
Sounds like somehting just came up with them, maybe they genuinly wont be in on the agreed day?1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70
50p: Christmas presents £3.50
£2: holidays £2.000 -
Could they leave the items with a neighbour?0

I'm suprised they asked for paypal also, but it's what they wanted so duly paid.
They have since replied saying as there was not follow up contact they were not sure if going ahead and now have to work. I don't begrudge them working, it would have been nice if the previous message was they were no longer avaliable for the agreed day and could we re-arrange rather than I had not made any arrangements. Would of thought it's unlikely someone not turning up if they had already sent payment, so maybe they have had problems with no-shows previously.
Thanks for your suggestion marlot. I never thought of that but what a great idea! Will suggest that to them if we can't arrange another time.Sealed Pot Challenge 2011 #11480 -

I wouldn't suggest that, I wouldn't expect a neighbour to take responsibility for face to face dealings relating to an ebay transaction.
It may sound like you are being unreasonable (many sellers get nervous when they receive requests they can't accommodate, because they worry about feedback/stars)0 -
Seller really needs to accomodate buyer here - I'd agree, not 100% sure about the neighbour recommendation, but they need to sort this out at their end, otherwise OP would be justified in claiming their money back (a legitimate reason for people who pay by Paypal to claim INR) and going elsewhere. How I'm reading it is seller is being difficult about collection date, buyer wants solution, not the other way round.
If they are not sure about going ahead they should refund what OP has paid tbh."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Thanks for your responses.
I've managed to arrange and collect the items now.
She was really apologetic and friendly face to face.
Another seller I wont be leaving feedback for, as up to the point of arranging collection communication was excellent (ask few questions before bidding) and everything else to do with the sale I'm happy with.Sealed Pot Challenge 2011 #11480 -
Leave her a positive but no DSRs, or use the granularity of the DSRs to your advantage and leave her a 3 or 4 for comms. It's not a low, it won't hurt her account, but it may make sure she keeps track of what's going on in future."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Thanks didnt think of that, probably tunnel vision over the collection issue.
Think sometime communicating with sellers over the internet makes things worse, as you can only interpret the tone/meaning of the message.Sealed Pot Challenge 2011 #11480
