Rates Bills - when do they come out?

Hi Folks,
Just a quick question about the Rates Bill. I'm immensely looking forward to getting it as you can well imagine, however I'm just wondering when it is issued? I've been a homeowner for almost 3 years now, and I thought that I would have received my new bill by now, with the first DD coming out of my bank account on March 31st .......... I live in Derry by the way. Thanks!

You lucky devil ... you only have another few weeks to wait, bet you don't get a single mights sleep until then ... the anticipation is killing me ... If you get that excited about rates bills I can send you mine as well. :D:D

Should be out by the end of this month but I don't think the first payment comes out until the end of April (is it not April thru Jan that you pay with Feb and March as the 'free' months?)

    Champion!! I can't wait!!
Just another wee question too. Our rates are slightly lower than what they should be because the house is a new build and the access roads are still covered in muck and potholes. Say the rates come out for the year and they've been calculated taking this fact into consideration. Then say they tar the roads in May ........ will they recalculate our bill, or will they wait til 2006??

When we moved into our newly built house near Dungiven, the rates people didn't mind charging us the full amount, even though it took nearly two years to have the roads tarmaced.

We complained at the time, but I might as well have been talking to the road itself :(

received my bill yesterday, for 1st direct debit payment 28/4. you being a new house owner sit back and wait and when you get a note from the rates office tell them you have only been in the house 4 weeks. you may save some money then :)

I hope you are not promoting dishonesty :D:D:D .. be aware that they do check with the builder who is not going to back you up since he is responsible for various payments until the house is handed over).

Got my rates bill yesterday as well ... boy do they know how to charge, I am expecting a new gold plated dustbin and piped music through the street lights. I am just wondering whether to pay the while lot off and take the 4% discount or pay by direct debit and earn interest on the money in my bank account.

Your Rates total is obtained by multiplying the valuation of your property by the Domestic Rate Poundage for the council area you live in (or are moving to).

Look up your Valuation (called NAV Total) on the first link below and your Poundage on the last link and do the maths for the comparison.
