Pulliptears - I've never been scammed before & I'm pretty sure I'm not an eejit. Your advice is not advise it's very patronising wagging-finger- sort of 'aren't I the clever, superior one'. sort of useless self congratulatory speech to say the least.

Warehouse - I did put this to Visa & my bank & they said there's nothing to stop them 'following' me for payment, but I doubt they would.

I'll get back onto my bank today & see if owt else has gone out.

see, here's the thing Choille, the advise wasn't for you and I don't believe I said it was.

Imagine had you been sat reading MSE 2 months ago and come across a similar thread, and within that thread it had been said that Free Samples are Free and you should never pay for them. Would you have perhaps thought twice before you paid? Probably.

So, call it patronising if you will, but to the person reading this thread who takes it on board and doesn't pay for their 'Free' Sample its saved them a bit of cash.

Of course, I could have just posted 'oh poor you and had a pity party' but I chose to be a little more constructive than that and actually help the next person who will fall for it.

Thanks Warehouse, I was skimming these posts and wondering why OP didn't cancel D/C and get a new one.

Choille, perhaps to be on the safe side you should do your utmost to attempt to contact this company and cancel 'membership' as well - even if you get no response or 'undeliverable' to your emails, it's all evidence you've tried to extricate yourself from this mess should your card provider ask for it.

As for rude, shirty, smug insults/comments/whatever - there's always plenty of those on MSE and best completely ignored. Just respond to those who offer constructive help and laugh at the others.

PS Just read your 'following me' for payments - can't see how, they'd no longer have valid D/C details. Surely they'd have to chase you personally, giving you the opportunity to have your say and cancel membership?
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

Many moons past when I was a kiddie, I used to send off my P&P for my free gollie badge. It didn't seem that a bad thing, didn't seem that by doing so they would plumb my bank account willy nilly.

The difference was you sent a cheque or a postal order for your golly, and Robertsons were a household name.

By giving these firms your banking details you are telling them to help themselves.

Never provide your banking details for Free Samples or Free Trials. (For the benefit of others)

I did put it to my bank about shutting my account - as that seemed the best 'stop' solution & that was what the adviser said - they could follow me for payment. They(Visa) have me down as attempting to contact company & say they will refund once payment has gone off.

I'm in hospital on Thursday so wanted it sorted before then really.

Speaking with VISA the woman said that this was a massive problem last year & ate up thousands of hours. They are doing a health thing too - revits something or other & are morphing into other companies. They are
