Thank you lovely :A
Yep it's LupusIt took a very long time for them to diagnose me. My problems all started when I was 5, I became very anaemic, ended up needing a blood transfusion and for 2 years I went on and off steroids but it would only be a couple of months of not taking them before a relapse and I'd require a massive dose to pick my bloods up.
I was 7 was when all the problems started with my joints and I've been on steroids and a host of different meds since. I went for every test under the sun but nothing was conclusive. By about 10, my medical diagnosis was SLE?And then by about 16 they'd decided that was definitely what I had, despite there being no obvious change or confirmation, it's just one of those all encompassing difficult illnesses to diagnose.
Touch wood, I have yet to experience any problems with my kidneys but this is what I live in fear ofEverything else is, as Mum would say 'up the swanny' so in many ways I feel it's just a waiting game. The steroids have resulted in Osteoporosis, there's the blood clot side of things, the migraines, hormonal inbalances, extremely poor circulation to the point I've often got chillblains/frostbite on my hands and feet and my well documented Anorexia
:o The problem now is that one action has a negative counteraction on one of my other problems. For example Ibuprofen is like my miracle for migraines but I can only ever take one (not even supposed to do that) because of the Warfarin treatment. At the moment I'm facing a really really difficult decision, could mean life or death and because my history is so complicated, nobody has been in this position before that the professionals can't even provide guidance
I do try and always have tried to be positive and just get on with it because I really know no different and as your heroic battle with Mr 3Dogs shows, you've got to try and hold your head up high and deal with the cards you've been dealt in the best way possible :A
Methotrexate is a drug Mum's had (she doesn't have Lupus, but another disease which also incidently gives her Rheumatoid Arthritis) but unfortunately her body couldn't tolerate it. I've only recently changed my main Lupus drug (other than the steroids) to something called Mycophenalate
So very pleased that my efforts weren't in vain and it's been helping people. That's so wonderful to hear your sis did successful shops woo hoo! :j xxx
after reading this post it reminds me of my mums (god bless her) attitude to life, she had lupus, osteo arthritis, osteo perosis amongst other things, had one kidney and was born blind, she never gave up, always had a positive attitude and outlived doctors expectations ny 10 years, she passed away nearly 7 years ago 11 days after i gave birth to my daughter, she saw her once for about 5 mins whilst in intensive care.
lupus in itself is such a complex condition and unfortunately its not something that is visibly to the public, your attitde to life sounds very similar to my mums, not pondering on the negative, getting on with life and dealing with the cards as they are dealt, i love this in people after seeing what my mum had to suffer with daily, thanks for all the posts, yourself and everyone writes they help so many0 -

Re body shop, I suggest emailing a fresh polite message, maybe not mention previous phone calls and see how you get on, it seems that most that have done this including me have had a positive response. Fingers crossed.
