Vw touran rear tailgate problem

can anyone help,got home from work tonite opened tailgate to remove bag but just cannot get it to shut at all,lock and keep seem to be working,other doors,remote all working as normal.door will go right down to its furthest poss position just not staying shut

May take a few attempts but try locking it and shutting it at the same time.

If your lucky it may catch and lock at the sa,e time.

If not it will need to be checked to see if its the catch/motor or controller.

Sounds like the locking mechanism, ours went not long ago. It was and easy fix at our local garage, about £50 I think.
