Income SSSP & DLA = £455/month (not due WTC for a while)
Outgoings = £2345
Disabled. Was well paid manager. Change of boss. Unsympathetic organisation. On sick leave (Disabled leave?)
Outgoings-£1705 of that is essentials. The other £640 is credit cards and loans.
I am to ill to return to work. Find money stressful in this situation. Vicious circle.
Is this how disabled people are treated? (My disability is not obvious to the viewer)
Any suggestions? Please?

Sorry to hear things are tough.
If you're off sick, are you not entitled to sick pay?
Unfortunately this is one of those unfortunate situations - I was advised to give up work due to my health but I simply can't afford to (yes I am disabled too).
Pop up a SOA http://www.stoozing.com/msoc/soacalc.php and we'll have a look and see if we can come up with any suggestions.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Sick leave (no such thing as disabled leave). Sick leave signed off by your doctor? Or enforced by your organisation? Presume you're getting SSP?
Have you declared yourself as disabled to your organisation? How long have you worked there?Outgoings-£1705 of that is essentials. The other £640 is credit cards and loans.
Complete an SOA as per the previous post; there are probably areas you can cut down from that £1705.Is this how disabled people are treated? (My disability is not obvious to the viewer)
Very difficult to say without any details. An organisation has to consider reasonable adjustments for those who have declared disabilities. However, what is 'reasonable' depends on the context. You say you're too ill to work, so if you can't be there, without knowing details, I'm not sure what else you expect them to be doing at this point other than paying you sick leave whilst you're off.
Equally, they need people to be able to do the job. So if you are off sick, they may make adjustments of extending the time you have off before starting any capability proceedings (ie, longer than an employee without disabilities), but if you can't work, then they can take action on that.
What do you mean by 'is this how people with disabilities are treated'?
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -

Is it likely that you will be able to return?
Like KiKi says, reasonable adjustments can be made but if you're not ever likely to be fit for the role, then I'm afraid your company will at some point probably start capability proceedings.
Have you seen the policy for your workplace - is there scope to be redeployed to a different role etc?Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Thanks Kiki.
After Equality Act 2010, organisations were impelled/encouraged to differentiate between time off for sickness and time off for disability, in order to not to discriminate at times of redundancy mainly.
Sick leave is signed off by Doc. However, I cannot return to work until my union has sorted a few things out with them and their attitude towards disability.
I get sick pay from gov, but run out from org. (Although there has been a court case to say it is reaonable to pay a disabled person to assist them from homelessness, vehicleless and ultimately inability to return to job)
I made my organisation aware of my disability,(DLA care) only to have them getting second and third opinions (which confirmed diagnosis) and the situation has deteriorated so until I can be surgically or medically dealt with by gastroenterologist to stop bleeding, weakness, fatigue.
My boss does not understand, and it is such a personal thing to discuss, and he believes, in spite of professional input that I cannot do my work from home. I have done before but he refuses.
I wake up every morning not sure how my health is going to be. IBS,colitis-long term diagnosis. I can restrict laxatives to get by for a day or two, but that generally means a week or so of agonising pain. I can work from home, around the better times, by computer. My job can be done by computer. I just cannot convince my boss that this is a 'reasonable adjustment'.
I cannot sit upright for long times- meetings, driving, at my desk. I just need to stop and stand for while.
I have used my holidays (substitute sick) but now on I only get SSP so I still couldn't pay all my bills. Exhausted.
Worked 8 years same org, promoted twice, no problems til this boss. Feel that with flexibility from a different boss, I could cope.
Am I expecting too much?

Hi. The situation occurred when my disability developed- boss made life impossible. Now I might get WTC in future. I am waiting for Permanent health insurance of around £1200 a month but I am panicking this month because I just don't have the money. My overdraft is at its limit. But on a positive note, my credit rating is good! My wages before this happened were in the region of £50K.

Is your institute membership really £650 a month?
Have you claimed council tax benefit?0 -
Hi there, sorry to hear of your troubles.
Could you speak to your mortgage company and ask for a payment holiday until your insurance comes through and then reduced payments or switch to interest only for the time being? (because even with you insurance payment you are going to struggle witht he mortgage and other outgoings). Could you sell your house? If you are suffering from a chronic condition then maybe downsizing could be the answer to minimise running costs and maintenance in the future?
As regards your health problems has your boss referred you to Occupational Health? What do HR have to say about working from home, as long as it's feasible then surely the company should try and consider it? What does the gastro-enterologist recommend as regards working whilst so debilitated? Have you spoken to a welfare rights adviser within your union to ascertain what help you can get re mortgage council tax etc?
Sorry can't be more helpful. Good luck.Nuts oh Hazelnuts:rotfl:0 -
Presumably your institute membership is an annual fee not monthly?
Have you contacted your mortgage provider to see if you could go ineterest only until WTC / sick cover come into play?May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0
