i've noticed over the last couple of days that when i'm offline and someone posts in a thread i am in that an email comes each time someone posts. so i end up with many from the same thread. arent they supposed to stop coming after the first one is sent until i log in again?

so its intentional that if someone goes on holiday for 2 weeks for them to come back and have to deal with several hundred email notifications? the other day i had only been offline for 48 hours and i had 80+ to deal with.0

I am subscribed to a fairly busy thread and I really don't want an email every single time someone posts so I have chosen no email notifications in my settings and to keep up with new posts everyday I click quick links then subscribed threads.
Threads that have new posts will be in bold and at the top. To the left of the thread title is a small arrow, click it and it takes you to the first unread post in that thread.
I log in everyday to check the busy thread anyway so don't need a notification telling me everytime someone posts.
It works for me:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Especially when the actual email says; There may be other replies also, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again.

The change is a bit silly given the wording of the email.0 -
HI shelly,I am subscribed to a fairly busy thread and I really don't want an email every single time someone posts
Please may I suggest going to the thread in question. Accessing the thread, going to the "Thread Tools" menu and choosing "Unsubscribe from this thread". Then, access the thread again. Go to the "Thread Tools" menu again, and select any subscription other than "Instant notification by email". Once you have done this you will not get an email notification instantly when someone posts.

Yes I would suggest limiting your use of "Instant notification by email" subscriptions only to threads you are really interested in hearing about new posts straight away. If you don't need to know about them straight away or new posts are appearing on the thread all the time then "Daily updates by email" might be a better choice. This will give you a daily digest of new posts in a single email. Hope that helps.
