MBna 4 days and counting

Hi so put a claim in for Mbna loan ppi from 8 years ago payed off the loan in early 08

So contacted Mbna said they would start a investigation 28 days later recieved a letter saying they needed more time and that I would have an answer by September 10th

So phoned today they are still investigating and nothing was on the system ie if I've won or not, and they still had 2 working days to respond

So do I hang fire and wait till the 11th or do I phone up again and ask to speak to the organ grinder and not his monkey to find out whats happening

The FSA say that MBNA have 8 weeks to respond from the date the complaint reached them. I work for a claims company that has won back £20 million in PPI. I've not yet seen one PPI complaint fail against them except when they were unregulated (pre-2001). Their PPI was that bad.

They should issue a refund if records exist and you didn't use the PPI!
  • Thanks src007,

Well one day to go and still no word !

Just add a little detail when I phoned mbna to first lodge my complaint they also volunteered that I had 3 other past accounts with mbna over the last 15 years that had ppi on them and would like to claim against them which I said yes to, 3 where loans and one was a credit card

I claimed against one of the ppi's when I was unemployed for 7months back in 2001

One other thing is no paper work has been filled out by me the claim has been done over the phone with mbna.

Anywhoo guess I'll give them a bell tomorrow see whats happening.

If your claims are successful they will deduct any monies paid out when you were unemployed.

Im in a simular situation with MBNA

put a complaint in about my PPI insurance 20/06/2012

Revived a letter 02/07/2012 stating that I would receive a response within 28 days.

Received a second letter dated 24/07/2012 informing me that they would be a delay and I would get a response by 22/08/2012.

Since24/07/2012 I have had no response what so ever,

On the 08/09/2012 I phoned to be told no decision has been made yet on my claim but I should hear something soon.

On the16/10/2012 i phoned again to be told they was still no decision on my claim.

Now fair enough i was in a IVA that was finished in April with my certificate of completion received but that should not stop them from making a decision weather i am owed any money or not. I'm planning on sending them one final letter giving them the opportunity to sort it out or i will be going to the FSA

    FOS, not FSA.
23 weeks is long enough really, but if you do refer your complaint, you'll wait even longer.
Really send them a letter though, don't just phone.

The FSA do not handle consumer complaints. You would need to refer it to the FOS. The FOS are currently taking 12-18 months.

You need to decide if waiting a bit longer is better than going to the FOS and waiting even longer.

    Sorry,

Meant FOS, i seem to be getting nowhere with MBNA hence a letter to be sent to them giving them 28 days to make a decision or i will take it further.

They were quiet happy to send me a letter to tell me they would have a decision before 22/08/2012 then not have any more contact with me.

I agree going to the FOS will take a lot longer but i will get a decision in the end as i think i have a good case here for complaining with the amount of time this has been going on for now.

You can't give the Banks such ultimatums. I advise you to follow the proscribed complaints procedure rather than attempt to manufacture your own.
