As a single 'working male' you would not be a high priority to be housed but they should give you help and advice.
I think Sinead is a girls name!
Don't have any advice OP but I wanted to wish you luck. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
Also, as you are technically homeless your Local Authority might have some form of deposit guarantee that they could offer to a prospective landlord if you don't have any savings of your own.
How about registering on somewhere like spareroom and putting a "want" ad up? There must be lots of people out there with mortgages to pay and a spare room who are feeling the pinch.0 -
Just noticed that you're in Birmingham Sinead. Please contact St Basils.
They are charity who help young people to apply for supported accomodation, private or social housing.

Thanks guys, I think I'll head down the council tomorrow armed with the LHA & SAR information and see what they can do for me.
I could possibly take on extra work, my old boss at a bar would allow me to do some shifts, but I already work 40 hours per week, and I had to leave my bar job due to pain caused by my slipped l4-l5 disk, SI joint dysfunction and hip issues. I'd much rather be using any spare time to undertake my degree instead of furthering the governments slave labour work programs.
The only reason i'm in a lowly paid apprenticeship is because they slowly got rid of any real jobs out there, and conviently slapped the word "apprenticeship" in other job titles.
I help run the "Back to work" program for the Government at the Chamber Of Commerce, so I'm well aware of their sly little tactics in taking every body out of work.. As far fetched as it seems I've seen it with my own eyes.
For example my position was a much needed position, but as they have a budget to keep, they thought "Apprenticeship!" they get £4, 000 pound for every apprentice they take on anyway!0 -

Not sure where you got Sinead from
but my apologies OP.
The Chamber of Commerce is a very highly respected organisation.
Have you asked if there are any funds to help you through your apprenticeship?
If you have someone you can talk to about your present situation - homeless and taking on this debt - you may find that there is some help out there - perhaps some grant or other.
My motto is, don't ask, don't.............
The more people you tell about your situation re housing the more likelihood of someone offering you somewhere. Trust me, there are some very decent people out there.
Good luck!0 -
You are very lucky to have an apprenticeship of any kind in this day and age and it will stand you in good stead for the future.
