Personally I really like sweet with meat. So I love TGI's Jack Daniels sauce, I just don't like the food, its expensive, not cooked very well, the list goes on.
Here is Northampton we are very lucky because we a couple of fabulous restaurants, Buddies and Joe's Diner. They are part of a local chain, they have I believe 4 restaurants in total. Well the food is to die for, my only complaint is that they haven't banned smoking in there, especially in Buddies because it is quite small but has the best atmosphere.
Now as I said I really like the Jack Daniels glaze, in Buddies and Joe's they do a dish called a Moonshine Wrap, it consists of chicken breast, Onions, bacon and lettuce (I could forgo the lettuce) and the moonshine sauce, all this comes in the most enormous Tortilla wrap, served with fries and their Northampton famous coleslaw.
In moneysaving mode, I realised that I had half a tub of Tesco Finest Coleslaw, hmm what to cook. Went to my favourite recipe site and a few minutes later had a recipe.
For dinner that night we had a moonshine wrap with J Spud and Coleslaw. Delicious!!
In fact I am having some for my dinner tonight, hubby is working and there was only enough sauce for one portion. (Lucky me). Just need to pop out for some coleslaw! Oh and some tomato puree because I making a crock pot chilli before I go to bed and I am going to let it cook slowly overnight.
So is anybody interested in the recipe!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok I am going to give you the recipe, I made a couple of changes which I will tell you about at the bottom.
1 Bulb of garlic
1 tsp olive oil
2/3 Cup of Water
1 Cup Pineapple Juice
1/4 Cup of Terriyaki Sauce (recipe calls for Kikkoman's which I just happened to have in but any will do)
1 tsp Soy Sauce
1 1/3 Cups of Brown Sugar
3 tsp Lemon Juice
3 tsp minced onion
1 tsp Jack Daniels Whisky
1 tsp crushed pineapple
1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper.
Didn't have a fresh garlic bulb in so used a large tsp of easy chopped garlic
Didn't bother with crushed pineapple, as my hubby had just given it to my son with carnation milk over it!
Out of Cayenne so used chilli powder instead.
Cut top and tail off garlic bulb, remove some of the outer layer but stay together and roast in olive oil for 1 hour.
Remove and cool so that you can handle it.
Or do as I did and use a large tsp of lazy chopped garlic.
Combine, water, pineapple juice, teriyaki sauce, soy sauce nd brown sugar in a saucepan over a medium heat.
Sir occasionally unitl mixture boils, then reduce heat to simmer.
Add remaining ingredients to the pan and stir
Squeeze out two tsp of garlic (if not using lazy)
Let simmer for 35 -45 mins or until sauce has reduced by 1/2 and is syrupy. (This actually thickens considerably when cool, you can then put the rest in a pot and put it in the freezer)
Use as you like, if adding to grilled meat, add at the end because the high sugar content could make it burn.
If you really like it, please be sure to come back and stroke my ego by telling me so. If you don't like it, just remember I bruise easily!£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

Thanks for that Kadz, sounds interesting. I'll have to give it a go. I've got a recipe for a sweet salsa that goes really well with any meat that you might like, unfortunatly there is no alcohol in it though (unless you count white wine vinegar).
I know it is a bit early but it is great for putting out at BBQ's (if the weather stays nice some people might be having them this weekend).
It does make a lot so you might want to 1/2 the quantities - or use smaller cups! (they are also approximate because I tend to just bung em all in)
Salsa
1 cup apple
1 cup celery
1 cup tomato
Chopped up nice and small and put in a bowl
1/2 cup butter
melt in a pan then add:
1/2 cup white wine vinegar (could probably use 1/2 white wine 1/2 vinegar)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sweet chilli sauce
1/4 cup tomato puree
cook for about 5 mins then pour over the apple/celery/ tomato, mix and add some chopped herbs. When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -

I love it there but i thought that it had closed up, is it still in the same place? i live in kettering.
Never heard of joe's diner, is that the same sort of thing, where about's is that??
I went to the Blue plate a little while ago but wasn't that impressed with it?0 -
Hi
I live in Northampton too! Buddies is still open and now they have another place on St Giles Street opposite the main post office called Grand Central. None of them are as good as Buddies though!

I can never remember...does tsp mean tablespoon or teaspoon?
No wonder I'm such a rotten cook!!!
