Can't you just use empty ice cream containers.

Haha I think they might melt in the oven ;)

Thank you McKneff, I'll give them a go!

@katieowl: I think I might just line them and see what happens. I'm a little apprehensive though because the side of the tins are scratched too..

You could just put in a big enough piece of baking parchment to go up the sides as well if you think they may stick. Alternatively, if you just run a knife round the edge of the tin it should loosen it enough to remove it from the tin. I usually use a pallet knife, or even a plastic spatula.

  • When I next have the money I plan to invest in some circulon tins. I have a circulon loaf pan as I got sick of loaf getting stuck, non-stick stuff bakin onto my loaf or other similar mishaps. Decided to invest in the best I could afford and I love it.

I see on their website they do cake tins and would love some, but at around £14 apiece it will be awhile. I got my loaf pan in the John Lewis January sale, but I haven't seen the cake tins at JL so not sure how you get could a better price on them. HTH.
  • I've gradually been replacing some of my backing tins recently via TK Max. They often have some in their clearance section.
i'm manged to pick up Stellar ones with a 25 year guarantee for £2-3 for swiss roll tins or sandwich tins.
They also have great customer service- I had one which I got as a wedding present nearly 12 years ago, the non-stick surface started to come off. Emailed them, the sent me a return envelope and I sent it back and had a new one within 2 weeks!

I wouldn't worry too much about the sides. I'd oil them - use oil to grease tins (sunflower or veg) not butter, as when tins are cold so is butter and not slippy. Line the bottom with paper, and then oil that too, and dust some flour around in the tin, and tip it round so the sides are coated too. Pretty sure it won't stick then ;) however scratched it is.
