Router recomendation

Virgin cable broadband.P.C upstairs running XP,planning to use I-Pad downstairs.Trying to gain wireless knowledge but can't get my head round router specs regarding DSL & ADSL.Can i have some recomendations on routers to use,don't mind buying second hand if they will do the job.Thanks

Before you buy one, have you called Virgin? Normally they supply you with one free of charge (well at least that's what's happened with me the last 2 times).

Thanks Called Virgin yesterday ,they want to charge me £3.50 per month extra but will fit free.This is for super hub,they said they had nothing else.

what's your current cable modem ???? I personally wouldn't pay £3.50 p/m for a superhub, if your modem's ok then pick up a cable router from around £5 on ebay

If you want to buy the very best (in terms of range/speeds) and don't mind paying for it, then the Asus RT-N66U is your best bet. Its arguably the best a/b/g/n router out there currently.

Superhub is dire (google "superhub problem"), much better go with your own router.

Asus router are the best you can get at the moment for FTTC/Virgin cable ,
there not cheap ,you can get a RT-N56U cheaper than a RT-N66U, and they can handle the 120Mbs speed ,well 850Mbs on the wan side (from the modem,if its possible one day )
so if your staying with virgin i would say the RT-N56U would be a good investment ,
i all so use a RT-N56U on my virgin cable
