Glasses Broken Issue

Hi Guys, long time hope you can help. I bought a par of reading glasses from boots reader but now a member a fortnight ago via a cash transaction and no longer have the receipt. They cost £24. This morning whilst on the train to work, I placed them down on the tray after reading the paper and the arm came off. These are rimless glasses so the arm is attached to the plastic lens via a screw and a hole in the plastic lens. Upon have a look the screw has sheared off but the arm and lens are fine.
Can I go back and ask for a replacement pair. The glasses are in mint condition and well looked after like all my stuff.
Cliffs:
Cost: £24
Payment: Cash Transaction
When: Two weeks ago
Fault: Arm broke via a small screw
Advice: Can I get a replacement without receipt?
TIA

You can try but with no proof of purchase you may really struggle.
Is it a big shop? perhaps you can seek the person that served you and they will remember you.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
You can go in and show that the item is faulty. Without a receipt it becomes more tricky unless it is something sold uniquely through Boots but often these things are dealt with politely by stores rather than kicking up a fuss.
If its a Boots with an opticians in it they'll probably be able to repair them. I dont know what my wife does to her glasses but at least once a month something goes wrong with them and her opticians has always repaired them within the hour for free (only cheap glasses - evidently)0 -
Thanks guys, I can remember the lady selling them as she was very good looking.
It is also a relatively small boots and these are just simple reading glasses but are very unique, I would say they are easily identifiable and that they have a good few pairs in there ( I see them when buying lunch most days)0 -
Are you sure you didn't break them on purpose just to go see this good looking woman? I know I would

If you don't have any luck with Boots, I repaired my glasses with tape when the arm joint broke - the arm doesn't bend any more, but the glasses are still fine a couple of years later. Just a last resort.0

I now imagine you looking just like Jack Duckworth :rotfl:14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140
