Literally got no money for the rest of the month

Options
Don't know what to do.

We are completely out of money. We are on a dmp so things are always tight but this month is dire. We went away to parents caravan last week for our holiday and just ended up spending way too much. Also had a hefty vets bill.
We have approx £6.00 in bank account and £15 in cash. We have a direct debit coming out in a few days time for £26. Then we have to last until 21st.

The o my thing I can see we can do which I really don't want to do and don't know the ramifications if we do is applying for one of those vanquis cc. What happens if you are on a dmp and take out further credit?

Things should improve in a couple of months as my hours at work ate set to increase but until then??????
Any advice?

i'd recommend against getting more credit

you overspent, hopefully lesson learnt? i'd get in touch with your dmp provider and tell them that this month you're experiencing difficulties and that you'll have to reduce this month's repayment but hopefully you'll resume normal payments from next month

in the meantime can you not find something to sell on ebay, find some one off small job to get some money, or get a small loan from family?

    good luck

  • hi sorry to hear things are not good for you at the minute .I can't advise but.... Could you sell something? On gumtree or eBay ...maybe a spare tv , clothing or even the sofa if it keeps you going until the 20th?
I'm am sure someone who is or has been in a similar situation will advise and be along soon. X x :)

Sorry to sound so harsh, but why? You on a DMP - I am too, had nearly 5 years of it, and then I'll be sorted. Sounds to me like the inherent problem is you spend far more than you can afford.

I'm (sort of) sorry to come across as blunt, but !!!!!!! You're dealing with existing debt while spending what's left as if you aren't paying it back?

Perhaps it's not right to say on forums such as this, but your post annoyed me tbh. You can't live like you'd like when you sorting out debt. Lifestyle change needed I fear. An overhaul of spending.

previous poster is bit blunt but he's got a point... how committed are you to sorting your situation out? If you keep on falling into your old habits (=overspending) then you're going nowhere... you really need to have a hard look at your habits and spending patterns. If you want to have a holiday on the cheap that's perfectly fine but you need to budget for it and stick to your budget...

lesson learnt? hopefully but i'm not too sure... good luck anyway
  • Thanks for the support Bristol Bloke. You're correct I do have a problem with over spending which is what got us into the mess in the first place. We have been on dmp for just about 3 years. Starting off with a debt of 36,000 and we are now down to 22,000 so don't think we r doing too badly. And by no means live an exravagant lifestyle never going out, don't drink, don't smoke and very rarely have treats like take aways. As explained we had a hefty vets bill and yes we went crazy and had a few ice creams and fish chips while we were on a free holiday 50 miles up the road. Honestly you gone on here help and support and not to be judged.

Anyway thanks to everyone for advice just checked yellow pages delivery and nothing in our area. But I have remembered that we have a dishwasher in the garage that we mgh be able to get £50 for in gum tree.
    Thanks again
  • It sounds like you've done really well on your dmp so far. I can understand people being concerned if you've overspent on your holiday but a few icecreams and some fish and chips doesn't sound too crazy, I guess maybe the stress of the dmp has got to you?
Anyway sorry it's going to be a tight month for you, hopefully the sale of the dishwasher will see you through.
    Best of Luck

    Only just read your post.
Long shot but I don't suppose you are in credit with your gas, electricity or water?
If you are maybe you could ask for it to be refunded?
