This thread has become rather weird.

The OP asks for a list of good jobs and what training you need for them, but does not indicate even vaguely in what field or with what interests.

And THEN says that they want to be their own boss anyway. So what would be the point of the qualifications?

Without any vague indication of a general field of employment it's a bit hard to give career advice.

Think OP is a bit of a nutter frankly.
  • Well anything in the social media/communications area. This is already a fast changing area. Look at new areas of media. How are people using the internet, what devices are they using that change the way they view things. Subscribe to some technology blogs or read the guardian technology section, watch the gadget show.
Computing, things like working in Cloud Technology will be a big part of the future and anything to do with renewable/environment.
By that I mean anything from the way we build houses/create carbon neutral environments to renewable energy - Wind/Wave power, that sort of thing, this will be huge soon.

You want to be your own boss, but you are going to set a person specification that requires you to have a qualification?

Who's going to do the interview that you expect to pass?

I think you're either a troll, or, if you really want some help, you need to think about what level of intelligence you might have, because if you aren't clever enough for certain jobs, what's the point of people suggesting them?

e.g Particle Physics Researcher at CERN: Requires PhD in Atrophyics & minimum of 3 cited papers. Are you going to try that?

I think you are mixing up starting a business that needs no qualifications and being self employed.

    Doctors
    Accounts
    Graphic designers
    IT
    etc

All need qualifications but can be self employed.

So thanks for you post but it brings into question your intelligence not mine.

and to the other posters that made the same point... :rotfl:

Why do self employed graphic designers need qualifications? I could probably work for agencies as a graphic designer based on my experience and I have no relevant qualifications.

And didn't you say you wanted to be your own boss? Self employed is not the same as being your own boss.

I'll take that as your admission of error.

You really are not making a lot of sense on this thread. Self employed? Your own boss? Your own company? A complex job working for someone else that needs qualifications...

No-one has a clue what you are actually asking.

In fact you do not need to have qualifications to do Accounts at all just know how to do it. I know the FD of a big co in London who is QBE and never sat an exam in his life. Hard work and a brain has got him to where he is.
