I think rather than that it would be good for banks to take each case individually, that's all. Its certainly harder for us now
yet I feel we are a lower risk that most people.
As you say the present system based mainly on salary multiplies is a bit crude but I suppose there needs to be some proof of earnings. Not sure what the position is regarding maintenance payments but when I got divorced they were ignored whether you were paying or receiving it.0 -

Oh really Graham, she has the wrong kind of income so obviously her opinion doesn't count.
Her opinion would only count if she were a flush with cash late middle aged homeowner on a three figure salary.0 -
So what are you advocating going back to self certs as proving income seems to the main problem.
LOL.
I'm not advocating anything. I really don't know how you got that from my post.
All I'm saying is, here is someone who finds it harder today than they did years ago. Theres other on the house buying board saying the same thing when they have had to start over again. I would rather take notice of these people. It's all the evidence I need to confirm my own thoughts....i.e. that its harder to buy houses today.
Seems to me you are simply looking for ways to blur what has been said as it doesn't fit your viewpoint of the young today finding it harder.0 -

There have been times when it has been harder to buy than now and there have been times when it is has been easier.
I could certainly buy the same house I bought in 1972 if I was in the same position now as I was then.
How difficult it is if you get divorced depend mainly on your personal circumstances.0 -
No you are the one fishing for people to support your claims.
LOL! I merely asked someone their personal opinion! How did I know they would, or wouldn't support my claim!?
This ones really hacked you off, lol.
I'm not getting into a to and fro with you. You'll only accuse me of muddling things....which would be quite amusing considering your attempts!0 -
Oh graham you are fruity tonight0

And talking rubbish the posters problem is not the price of houses but the fact that they are having difficulty getting a mortgage even though they can afford it.0 -

Not sure why you think its hacked me off as it supports my case that the problem is getting a mortgage not house prices.0 -
All I asked was "do you find it harder today". The person I was asking said "Yes I do".
They then gave reasons.
I believe it's harder today. I don't care why. At the end of the day, the reason doesn't make any difference, and wasn't the point of my post.
I shall reiterate. If it's harder, it's harder. You are getting yourself wrapped up in various points I never made...
Heee-horrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr0 -

Old fart? Yes.
Stupid? No.Gracchus_Babeuf wrote: »What the hell do you mean by 'corrupted behavioural pattern'? And your other rantings?
I cannot answer this, because I never said it.
But just to 'play the game' you seem to have started, I can only respond by asking you - what the hell do you mean by "I'm a rude, ignorant, unpleasant, and immature little toad?"0
