Can't say I watched either, albeit was much more difficult to avoid seeing the Olympics than the Paralympics. Fortunately there is not long left of the latter.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

To be honest - the ads are not that intrusive though they are repetitive. No different to the BBC continually cutting back to Gary Lineker gurning. What difference does it make that the studio is offsite as opposed to being in a container onsite? The Last Leg is often the best bit of the coverage too.
However - actually being there is still better - you get to see the stuff that the camera's miss... I was in the stadium Tuesday night and in a couple of the visually impaired races there were fallers; the crowd carried on applauding as the guide picked himself up, picked up the runner and finished a minute after everyone else. That's the spirit!I need to think of something new here...0

I'd be interested to see how much interest the OP takes in disability sport for 46 months between each Paralympic Games.
There seems to be this notion amongst people that the disabled only get to play basketball once every four years. That's far from the case.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I actually think C4 have covered it well. I'm possibly speaking from a point of ignorance as regards to the Paralympic Games as shamefully I have not watched much of previous games.
However I have watched loads this year and have enjoyed (and been educated by) the presenters and features.
The coverage seems to have an upbeat and lighthearted spirit which is really uplifting (especially The Last Leg).
I also watched a lot of the Olympic Games on BBC1 and I don't see a huge difference in the coverage (apart from ad breaks) - both focused on GB athletes and celebrate every success joyfully.0

I agree with others that the level of coverage has been quite poor..A lot of chatting, just cutting to the action for 30 seconds at a time then back to the studio..do this a couple of times, then run ads and repeat...you seem to get about 10 minutes of actually sport in an hour of telly.
I'd have liked to have seen the BBC level of coverage continue..but I guess that's just how the cookie crumbles.0

Channel 4 have shows covering disabled sports all year round. Their coverage is not as bad as everyone is making out (IMO) - they have even drafted in some of the top BBC commentators to cover the events.
I suppose if you wanted uninterupted live HD coverage of the Iran vs Portugal volleyball you will be dissapointed, but the channel 4 shows cover all the major bits, with the expected focus on British athletes and teams.0

They shouldn't have been allowed the rights. The BBC should have been allowed to show the same coverage as it did for the Olympics.
It doesn't work though. You can't force the BBC to show the same level of coverage. It costs money to add a new channel or offer coverage to an event. A lot of money. The Olympics generate a lot more viewers and therefore a lot more money than the Paralympics do. The BBC know this, it's the reason they didn't make any real effort to win the bid. You could argue that the TV rights for both should come under one bid but I guarantee you if this was the case and BBC had broadcast the Paralympics as well the coverage wouldn't be much greater than C4 are offering at the moment.
I'll be honest, for me personally the Paralympics isn't as interesting to watch on TV as the Olympics. I feel it's a lot more about their disabilities than their sporting abilities and while I've been amazed at what some people have achieved I've chosen not to watch much except the main events. On the other hand I watched an unbelievable amount of the Olympics coverage.
I am however going to watch the same number of Paralympic events as Olympic in person. I saw some yesterday and they're far better in person than on the TV. Off to the park on Saturday so I'm looking forward to that.0

The Olympics were shown all day on several different channels, as well as BBC1 the biggest channel in the country. It is only fair the Parolympics are given the same treatment.
Don't you have freeview? There are FOUR channels being used for the Paralympics:
 C4, C4 Para 1, C4 Para 2 and C4 Para 3"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Whilst the presentation of C4 is not as professional as the BBC at least they are giving these games much wider coverage than I ever recall being shown before.
I only hope that the interest continues in the future. We cannot watch things that are not scheduled in the first place.
So all you TV companies out there, take note, there is massive interest as shown by huge numbers of tickets sold. I for one have been glued to the TV and I do not usually watch C4 that much usually.
I loved the olympics but I have loved the paralympics even more. I have been inspired, moved and educated by these games. I hope that more para events are aired in the future.0
