What to do - grease splashes on wall

Hi After some help! On the wall behind my cooker I have a glass splash back, which stops majority of splashes. However, to either side of the glass, I have greasy 'splash' marks on the wall. I was hoping to paint over them, but have been told these will show through the paint? I am trying to avoid tiling! Any help…

If the vinegar doesn't work, I have removed greasy stains off an emulsioned wall with Barkeepers Friend although it may take a bit of paint off the wall with it.

The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best
