Thanks for all your responses, you've all been helpful and it's much appreciated. I thought I'd give an update to this saga. EDF completely admitted responsibility to the error. However, they told me to basically prove that my carpet was damaged, by the engineer. They offered me a £25 reduction on my bill, I've no idea what that now takes my bill down to, but this takes my compensation total up to £50.
Anyway, it's been about 9wks since they broke in, and there's still no debt on my meter, nor is there any weekly repayment amount on it. I've just received a phone call, from EDF, asking me to take a picture of the meters as they company, who broke in, don't believe the meters have been installed. I asked how could they possibly have no record of serving a warrant and hiring a locksmith to break into my home. I said I'm not photographing meters and emailing pictures. They then asked me to arrange a date for the company, that owns the meters, to visit. This visit is so they can physically see the meters as proof they're there. I told them if I'm in, I'm in. If I'm not, they can break in, again... you're quite good at that.
It's absolutely unbelievable. I have never known such an inept company in my life. I've no idea, how much I owe, how much I'm paying, what tariff I'm on, and I doubt they know either. I don't trust anything they say, or even send to me written. I've yet to see what debt they put on the meters and if the agreed repayment is right.0 -

Im sorry but this sums up my previous thoughts about you, although does sound like the mop has not recieved the flow so the supplier is wanting to update and send it on. If they cant arrange an appointment, you are aware they can bill you for a warrant do you not?
Inregards to the debt, they will be awaiting the mex details to update on their system, to then issue a flow to your paypoint
Inregards to the carpet, I dont think you have a leg to stand on as previously stated we get it all the time with false claims when a warrant is executed.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
It's not a false claim, they really did damage my carpet, but I agree I don't have a leg to stand on, hence I haven't pursued it. As for everything else, I have always tried to cooperate with EDF, their service is atrocious. They have admitted to all the faults on every occasions, with compensation and letters of apology. Because of their continuous ineptitude, I've been continually billed incorrectly, been unable to arrange/make payments with them, had my house broken into unnecessarily and whilst in full compliance with them. The only reason it went to a warrant was I was unable to get through to them on the phone, the average waiting time was around 30mins, give them a call, I hope you like A-ha. That is all not to mention the time I arranged from work to be in for the days the meters were due to be fitted. So I feel very put out of my way by them. I've never had issues of this sort with any other supplier, nor any other company that has provided me with anything. This sums up nothing about me, it's EDF that it sums up.0

No disrespect but, regardless who's at fault to expedite a satisfactory conclusion either make an appointment for a mutually convenient time so they can come physically look themselves at your meters & or email a few pictures ... simple ... job done :-)0

Without commenting on this individual case, all i can say is that in my experience utility co;s go out of their way to try and resolve debt matters and warrants are a last resort. There can be months and months of pre-amble of letters,visits,etc etc before they move to a warrant.
Eventually though the day will come and it will happen.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

The actual bill was under dispute, EDF wouldn't acknowledge that it was wrong. This endless arguing over the bill went on for a year. Eventually, they realised it was and credited me the difference. From there I tried to make payment arrangements, email/web was off limits as I've only had it put in recently. In that time I was paid two visits: one when I was in, he pushed a card through the door and didn't knock, I only realised when I saw the card. The second was when I was out and he left a card. Both times there was a mobile contact number. The first time I didn't ring, with it being a mobile, the second time I rang the number and went to voice mail. Eventually, I got through to EDF, we agreed to have pre-payment meters put in, on a certain date, and I arranged time from work. Then they sent the threat of a warrant, again I contacted them and agreed a date and repayment plan. They then sent the engineer out a week early, mixing the dates up. I contacted them, again, and rescheduled the meters for another date. I rescheduled time from work. The then served the warrant regardless. Incidentally, I did try to register on their site, but it kept saying invalid surname. Telephone call this evening, I don't need to book anyone to look at the meter, someone had read the meter 2 weeks ago. Again, EDF taking unnecessary actions.0
