Although it is labelled as a savings account, you can operate Standing Orders and Direct Debits from it, manage the account online and has the option of a cashpoint card or passbook.
I have one for my monthly bills for the reason that it does not have a debit card...this means I can't spend the money in the account
.
Hope this helps
Great, i'll pop into town tomorrow, i'm pretty sure there's a YBS here. Much appreciated, all the best.0 -
If you have a Skipton Building society have a look in there, I have a Leap Account with them (1.8% only available if your under 28) which is pass book only.
I got for a similar purpose as you to begin with - so I could transfer money into it from my online banking, but to get at it I needed to go into town. I've since got better with money management and don't really use it anymore. Partly because since I opened the account I turned 18 & could open better paying accounts online.0 -
Get a normal account, dont sign up to internet or telephone banking and cut up the debit card when it arrives.
You can go in branch with ID such as passport or driving license to withdraw monies0 -

Won't they always try and send me a new card though whenever I go in?
Thanks though!0 -
Why can't you simply withdraw the amount of cash you are prepared to spend on a night out earlier in the day while sober, then leave your card at home when you go out?0

Simply because I live in town! Ha! Going out and getting drunk isn't the sole reason I want to do this anyway. It's more to resist temptation in general.0
