Backup Laptop - Ghost???

Options
I recently bought a laptop from comet, and after finding all the XP discs and drivers on the internet, I decided to merge all partitions and go back to NTFS (as opposed to FAT32).

I would now like to create an image of this.

But...

I would prefer not to install Norton Ghost, as I would not like this to appear on my image (when i am to use it), is this still possible? - If so, what version?

Also, what is the best way of storing the ghost image? - Hard Drive, CD/DVD, External HD etc.

Thanks in advance

Daniel

    Thanks for the reply.
As I am new to this, would it not be more user friendly using Norton Ghost?

Give it a try, it's free. I personally use Acronis True Image.

Looking at reviews, the True Image seems to be getting much better reviews than Norton Ghost.

Would I need to install Acronis True Image or DrvImager XP?

    Thanks for your help!

Acronis TI is the best I have tried but I have a complex backup strategy. I do incremental backup images of all my disks to a network server.

When/if I need to do a recovery I use BartPE boot CDs with plugin support for SATA, network adaptors and the Acronis plugin.

In your case if you are just planning to do an image of your laptop disk to DVD then I would think that DrvImagerXP is more than adequate.
