Front steps - help with safety and cost please

Hello,
Last Xmas I fell down our front steps on ice twice (very nearly killing myself on each occasion) so this year I want to a get metal handrail and grips so my questions are:
1) Does £130 sound reasonable for a rail to go down 3 steps - not decorative, just a simple safety feature. Trying to get a second quote but surprisingly difficult to get hold of another blacksmith.
2) Does anyone have any suggestions of a good grip to put down on the steps as they are worn now and ice turns into a skating rink? Blacksmith suggested going to a yachting shop and buying the grip they use but he said it sticks down so not sure how long that would last?
TA!

Actually, possibly posted this in the wrong bit but no idea how to change it. Sorry.0

Handrail made to order sounds OK.
For the steps it sounds as though you need "step plates" - not sure where you'd get these.0 -
£130 sound good for supply and fit, though it may need painted as it will not be Stainless steel for that much.
Why not consider a ramp with sandgrip surface.
Worth investing in if you have a killer steps issue,
If U R in the North West, PM me and I will sort it out at cost.0 -

Might be an alternative.0 -
Have a look at these guys they do nosing and tread plates. Not sure if they're a bit industrial for you but we've used them on jobs before.
