What kind of person do I need to replicate wooden raised dog bed for me?

No idea what kind of professional to contact who can replicate a wooden raised dog bed for me about 3 times. Any suggestions? many thanks!

Unfortunately, as a new member i can't post a link to an example i found on Ebay.

  • Just post the ebay number - depending on complexity could be a job for anyone between handyman and workshop-based joiner (probably someone in between i.e. local carpenter with hand tools.)

Is this the type of thing you are talking about?

If so a handy man could knock one of these up in less than a day. Looking at the prices the ones are going on ebay for I might go and investigate the timber I've got in the garage!

In all honesty, they seem to be £150-170 ish, you may not get much change out of a tradesman.

Sorry, just read the 3No. required. Go with a handy man. It's a very simple build.

Wow £150 a pop for small [STRIKE]plus £12 for painting[/STRIKE] without delivery! As above go with a carpentry skilled handyman, I'd imagine making/priming 3 in a day should be easy enough + maybe another couple hours next day to 2nd coat paint all.

On the other hand if you're willing to pay 500 quid I'll make 3 and deliver within 100 miles + free bedtime story for each dog.
  • If you bought that in Pets at Home is would be twice the price.

How about a triple bunk bed with stairs for the top two,

Knocking three up from new wood would be at least £350 painted, What about varnished or shabby chic.....

i am in the wrong job,,,,:rotfl:

It looks like a planter straight out of a garden centre.... painted white and a cushion lobbed in.
  • From image 5 on ebay I'd suggest that it's 4 detailed pieces of MDF/similar with prepared softwood on either side (to look like solid legs when assembled.) - backed up by only offering in painted not wood finish.

If it is MDF or other particle board and your dogs like to chew/slobber the I doubt they will look nice for long. Having not read latest reports on safety of resins used in boards I can only speculate that they might not be good for your animal.

I would recommend making the whole thing from softwood (solid legs or as shown) with some type of tongue + grooved boards for sides at least then you have the choice of using an oil (linseed/tung/danish etc.) to finish which would be more dog safe than many paints available.

They look like a cheap planter but imagine the planter would last longer outside.
  • If you bought that in Pets at Home is would be twice the price.

I make furniture usually but my little girl has many pets (and friends with pets.) If I could sell my far better quality hutches for 75% of what the chains charge then it would be a viable business proposal (instead of giving every one away free.)

Prepare for the sudden influx of raised dog beds onto ebay, lol.

You are right though, buying trade I could knock these up for around £30ish in material including paint and I would imagine 4 hours labour.

£30 ready to go... pianted.... I'll have 100 at that price. I doubt you could buy the materials for that, andI work in a wood supplier. PS if it is MDF,then when your dog chew it it will probably get cancer... Carciogenic or what !!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
