  • I know! I was going to go into town today but don't think I can face it, apparently its going to be the busiest shopping day before Christmas AND there's a home game on today so I think it's quite possible it might be hell on earth there today! Have decided to go one night after work instead. I am going to venture out to get some wrapping paper though and wrap what I've got so I can see what else I need to get ( hopefully not much! ).

Mortgage should complete on Tuesday. YAY! Got our redemption letter through and there's £98,126.41 outstanding on the mortgage but can't actually remember how much we said we needed to borrow to remortgage the house but I'm sure it was a bit more than that so we might end up getting a little bit back which will go towards getting the windows done.

Rang Npower about the credit balance we have with them and apparently it can take up to 6 WEEKS to get the money back!! Would have been nice to have that back before Christmas but I suppose it'll come in useful when we eventually get it back. Just annoying that they're quick to take it but takes them ages to return it back.

Suppose I should go get ready considering it's nearly 12 and I've been sat on my backside all morning and done nothing!

  • Evening all!

Soooo tired today, had a few ups and downs and some bad news lately ( not gonna go into it ) so just feel a bit "meh" at the moment.

Good news though I logged on to check the status of my mortgage application and it's now down as complete so im assuming that means it's all done :j

Paid the deposit for the windows tonight of £177 which luckily is money we already had and have provisionally said we want them fitted in March to give us time to save up the rest of the money, though as soon as we get the money together we'll get them done so it might end up sooner ( cant see that happening though ).

Have booked tomorrow off work to get the last few bits and pieces sorted for Christmas, figured I can tackle the shops mid week when its hopefully a little quieter, just hope I get everything I need.

Not sure how I feel about Christmas now, can't really say I'm looking forward to it at the moment with everything thats going on but im hoping that once I finish work on Friday that might change.

Got a big Asda order coming tonight with all the Christmas booze ( I supply the drink for Christmas day ) so thats gonna dent the Christmas budget a bit!

  • Thanks for the well wishes :)

Kodagirl good luck with your MFW journey! If you haven't done so already then start a diary, it does help ( says she who abandoned hers for a while! )

Well my theory about the shops being quieter today proved to be wrong, it was sooooo busy and I did walk out of one shop in a strop as I literally couldn't get moved and no matter where I stood I was in someones way. ARGHHHHH!! But.... drum roll.... I've finished my Christmas shopping hurrah! Though I have just had a phone call off my dad to see if I'll go shopping with him at the weekend to get my mums presents.... yay lol

Getting a bit fidgety with money now, can't check the joint credit card as hubbys bought some of my Christmas presents using it and can't check the bank as he mistakenly used the joint account for 1 present that will apparently be obvious if I see the name. Trying to keep my spreadsheet up to date with receipts but I'm convinced I've forgot things and dont want to end up with a huge credit card bill we can't pay :(

Had a really lovely meal with hubby in town today and a glass of wine which made up for the horrendous shopping experience so that was nice :D

Car is due its MOT on Friday and I've gone from thinking oh it'll be fine to hmmm maybe we'll need to spend some money as, for some reason, the oil light keeps randomly flashing on for a second then going off and we can't figure out whats triggering it so *fingers crossed* it's just a dodgy connection or something and nothing serious. Really don't want to end up with a huge repair bill just before Christmas!! We're being paid early this month ( Friday ) so really don't want to touch any of that pay until our "normal" pay day which is last working day of the month if I can help it as I don't want to be left short in January. It's my Christmas party on Friday but that should be a cheap if not free night as the food and drinks paid for and I'm debating driving which will cut out taxi costs. Quite pleased as my outfit has only cost £15, got a LBD in the sale half price, borrowing a bolero jacket off my sis and have a pair of black shoes ( I haven't actually checked but I'm sure I have, everyone has a pair of black shoes right?! ) so thats really good for me as I'd normally buy new dress, shoes, bag, accessories etc

    Hope everyones well x

  • Evening all! Hope everyone is ready for Christmas and feeling wonderfully festive :D

Well the mysterious oil light problem turned out to be pretty serious, we had a oil leak but because it was leaking from the sensor it broke the sensor and we had NO oil left in the car!!! Quite a miracle that it was still running so to fix that and the MOT was £130 which I didn't think was too bad. Party was good but I had the hangover from hell yesterday and literally spent the entire day in bed, only started feeling human again at about 6PM!! You would think I would learn after all these years but nope! Still shattered today as well.

Got a cheque back from the conveyancers for £473 as basically the mortgage took that long to complete that by the time it did another payment had gone to the old provider so the loan amount we requested was too much. Going to use just over £200 of this to pay the £50 fees and interest we've accrued between now and our first payment and the rest is going into savings towards the windows. Should definitely have the money by March, possibly February then we'll go back to overpaying the loan then the mortgage.

Off to the inlaws tomorrow to drop gifts off and have some lunch then we'll be at my parents Christmas day and boxing day it'll just be the two of us at home which I'm really looking forward to as it'll be the first time we've been at home on boxing day

If I'm not on again before Christmas I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas xx

  • Had a lovely but quiet Christmas, got to spend time with OH this year whereas last year we were doing something every day so it was nice to have time just the two of us.

Managed to get the cheque paid in today and have finally got my finances in order which is a relief! Paid £250 towards the fees and a little extra to OP ( wanted to OP a nice round figure ) which means my total mortgage OP's since I started this challenge is £263.51 against a target of £200 which I'm really pleased with :T Also since deciding to get the windows done a few weeks ago we've paid the £177 deposit AND saved £990 so we only need to find another £603 which we will easily do over the next 2 months. I'm still waiting on the refund from Npower which will be a help and I didn't use all the money I put aside for food for Christmas and now I've topped that account up with our normal amount from this pay theres now £450 in that account so we should have at least £100 left over in that account by the time the next pay day rolls around. We'll definitely have the money together by the beginning of March but I'm hoping that we might be able to get the rest of the money together by the beginning of February, just have to wait and see. Then it's back to OP the loans then once they're done the mortgage!

Going to brave the sales tomorrow with my sister to see if I can grab any bargains as I got some money for Christmas, thats if I survive them lol
