back door with letter box

Hi,

If you were buying a house and the back door had a letter box on it, would it put you off?

I would block it up.

I'm looking at second hand doors on eBay and there are plenty with letter boxes...

Not ideal, but if I can save £100 I'm thinking it may be worth it, but wanted to get an idea of what other people thought

Small things can be changed and you need an imagination to see the bigger picture.

If I was buying a house for £500k then I don't think a letter box in the rear door would bother me as the door can be replaced I'd be asking why the rear door has a letterbox and is the owner a skin flint who has decorated his house with salvage retrieved from local skips.

It would not bother me at all to be honest. I would change it if it was a problem when money allowed.

As long as it doesn't compromise security or invite unwanted wildlife I don't see what the problem is. How hard would it be to change the back door anyway?

It wouldn't bother me. I'd rather have good door that matched the other doors/house with a letterbox than a bad one without.

As it happens I have a nice plain 1940s back door (without letterbox) and a hideous, crude, overdecorated plastic front door (with letterbox) that looks totally out of place.

If its a wooden door, filling the hole with wood will be much easier and cheaper than replacing the door.
