Do I have to declare a no fault/no claim when renewing car insurance?

Hi

My car was hit whist parked outside my house it was a no fault no claim.

The police were involved though and the accident/incident was noted by both insurance companies as my car was written of and the other driver wasn't insured!

Do I declare it when renewing my insurance?

Thanks

  • Need to read the explicit question asked, in most cases it asks for you to declare any incidents irrespective of if claimed for or not and irrespective of fault in which case it needs to be declared.
  • Thanks

I'm not bothered as such about declaring it just wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing an didn't want to put it down if I didn't need to

  • There's a time limit for this, I think it's 5 years but InsideInsurance may be better informed.
  • If your not asked you dont need to tell but I cannot remember the last time an insurer or broker didn't ask.

Obviously not declaring it when you are asked opens up a world of potential issues if the insurer discovers this which will effect you for life if they decided to void the policy for non-disclosure

The time limit for declaration of incidents varies between insurers but most are 3 or 5 years.
