Late Check Out Rooms - Worth it? And All Inclusive query.

We have booked to go to Sharm El-Sheikh next august with Thomson.
We have booked the Coral Sea Aqua club, on an All Inclusive, the first time we've gone AI.
I have just paid off the top up on our deposit, and noticed the option to book a late check out for £35/adult. We are considering this as our return flight isn't until about 8pm.
Question is, what do you actually get with a late check-out? Do you get to stay in your room until check out time, or do they have specific other rooms they let you use? We have booked a 'swim-up' room, so having use of this most of our final day would be a bonus.
Alternatively, we may wait until we get there and try and book it direct with the hotel.
Also, how long does the 'all inclusive' last is it literally until you are collected to leave the hotel on the final day? Or is it when you 'check-out' of your room?
Cheers

AI normally lasts until you check out of the room.
Any time we have paid for late checkout we have always stayed in the same room.travelover0 -
we rarely have booked a late check out room. you will not be guaranteed the room you are in. we usually travel with first chioce/thomsons. a.i is provided until we leave the hotel for the airport0

It all depends on the hotel, we have had AI provided untill we get picked up and we have also had hotels where AI ends when you check out. Sometimes we have stayed in the same room, and other times we have had to change room. It would be best to email the hotel and ask them.£100 - £10,0000

As someone else suggested check what facilities your hotel has for this. We had a late flight back from the Canaries last week but hadn't been able to pay for a late check out (rooms were already booked out)...however we were really pleased when we found out that the hotels 'shower room' was actually more than adequate (massive room, two showers, dressing rooms, towels - you just had to ask for the key) and free to use!0

With some hotels the AI ends at mid-day on your last day regardless of the time you are leaving the hotel.0

we have done this twice at the same hotel and had different situations both times, first time they moved us to a different part of the hotel and the second they let us keep the same rooms.
anyone that knew the hotel knew that depending on whether you booked a studio, 1 bed apartment, 2 bed apartment and which minimum occupancy option you did meant which block you got and as a consequence if you got a room that looked like the brochure or something from holidays from hell
the tour operator didnt offer it, the hotel arranged it at the reception/bar (it was both the same bit there)Who remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?0 -
Both times Mrs MbW and I have done this, the hotels' receptionists just extended our check out time on our rooms:
- AI in Turkey - we were issued new key cards for our room with the extended validity on them after the receptionist updated their reservations system
- HB in Cyprus - the receptionist just updated their reservations system
In both cases, we had later flights (although Mrs MbW had an earlier flight back to Russia from Cyprus than mine to the UK).0 -
any time i've done late check out it has been the same room and the AI lasted until we left the hotel0

I have done late check-out several times in Egypt. Each time, we stayed in our original room until we were ready to go to the airport. Last time which was June this year, the late check-out was free which was a super bonus as we had paid something like $80 (and I mean dollars) on our previous holiday in March.
I do think it is worth paying the extra though as it means you get to enjoy your last day by the pool or on the beach.0 -

No, AI lasts until you leave the hotel (when the airport coach comes).0
