Interview with Atos

Ooooh, they want to interview me. Yay! I thought.
Office hours. Thirty grand plus salary.
I had applied for an assessor job with them and they were very keen to meet me.
Dunno if I would have got the job or not. But I researched the Company and decided that I think that Atos stink.
I have worked with a lot of people with back pain so bad that they want to end it all. And people whose joints creak so loudly when they move that it breaks my heart.
Then of course there is irritable bowel, dialysis etc etc.
I could go on and on.
But it would appear that if they can pick up a phone, or sit in a wheelchair for any length of time then they are fit for work.
I didn't proceed with my application.
So. I remain skint, but will be able to sleep at night.

From what I hear employees are leaving in droves, too scared of being reported to the GMC etc"Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0

Or you could have continued and tried to make a difference from within.
Hard I know, but it has to start somewhere.0 -
Op... the "But it would appear that if they can pick up a phone, or sit in a wheelchair for any length of time then they are fit for work" type things reported often are misleading. The whole person is looked at in the Work Capability Assessment in terms of various areas of function... to see if there are significant limitations... obviously if there was only one area of disability such as moving arms then if they didn't reach the benchmarks for disability in the area of moving arms then they would be found fit for work. I would think in most cases it'll be more than one functional area that would be applicable for investigation.
As above... it could be a potentially stressful role... with the threat of complaint hanging over you... but I would suspect the drive for efficiency (there are very strong indications that procedure is not followed often), targets (officially targets are denied but I strongly suspect that there is in effect a deterrent to moving outside of certain parameters regarding assessment conclusions) and the limitations of the computer software (LiMA) used to drive the assessment may prove more troublesome. It's a great potential opportunity to do some interesting work though.. perhaps with a view to whistleblowing..lol"Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0
