It makes me really cross. there are some things that I'd been buying for years that suddenly decided to add msg or hydrogenated oils; grr. This means I have to read the labels every time I shop.
On the brighter side though some manufacturers are realising and removing them.
M&S is a good place to shop (they don't do hydrogenated fats) and they have good offers: wonder if they do sage & onion stuffing? I couldn't afford to buy everything there but sometimes they work out cheaper : a lot of foods I want without the nasties tend to be classed as premium so aren't cheap anyhow.
For a treat I buy dark choc, melt it and then when it's poured over icecream it goes hard: so you get the same affect without the gunk.
AND DO AMAZING CHOCOLATE BARS *DROOOOOOOOOOOOL* Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
We've been avoiding hydrogenated fats for a couple of years now, but it's getting a bit easier now that manufacturers are waking up to the fact that the great british public is becoming aware of the harm they can do. That said, it still takes an age to do the shopping, what with reading the labels and everything.
The latest chocs from Mars - I think they're called Planets have hydrogenated fat in . I was so looking forward to trying them, but I've left them on the shelf. Having said that we've got Green and Blacks choc on offer at the mo, so I'll have to satisfy myself with that instead. It's a tough old life!!!.....0
