ROAD ANGEL etc

Can anybody tell me the cheapest/best place to get a Road Angel or similar speed camerd detector for a car? BMW are quoting me £349 for the new road angel including 6 months registration. Can anyone beat this price?

You could try ebay.

Note that Road Angel (and other similar devices which employ radar detectors) will most probably be outlawed under the new Road Traffic Act.

Passive detectors (e.g. GPS devices with speed cameras stored as points of interest) will remain legal. This includes devices such as the Tom Tom Go etc.

I believe Road Angel is a passive GPS device, I personally use TomTom 3 on my XDA with the PocketGPSWorld Camera Updates, so I know where I'm going and where the cameras are!

Firstly, it's not the Road Traffic Act, it's the Road Safety Bill. Secondly, it has been abandoned due to the forthcoming General Election. Thirdly, it only sought to outlaw radar and laser detectors - the Road Angel uses a database of camera locations and is not covered under this legislation.

I would recommend buying the unit from a company call Speed Detectors UK, they sold me my unit and were very helpfull in deciding which one was best for me, which was the road angel 2. The site is http://www.speed-detectors.co.uk, they are a Genuine Company as well as they have a shop. I found some of these sites you don't know who you are buying off..

I would give them a call and see if they will beat the £349 price i'm sure they would do or give you a free 2nd windscreen kit and gps antenna as they did for me. give them a call on try.....
