The issue with the doors might be sorted by providing documentation such as receipt showing what you bought. For the window/s in the door, look in the cornet and the fensa mark should be there.

He may be competent but has not paid NST (Nanny State Tax) on the work, does not make it any safer or more efficient but brings a smile to the interested parties faces and bank accounts.

The electrical work in my house could not possibly have been done post regulations as the cable is black and red and if you check the batch numbers on the sockets I am sure they are older than that (a good investment in supplies me thinks ;))

It could become the great being the enemy of the good. People may prefer to leave wiring which really needs attention rather than do anything about it and risk the certificates - indemnity hassle.

Ooh, what's the cornet? It's not on the glass, it just says safety glass...I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to these things!

Points taken peeps, and thanks so much for your advice, it really is appreciated x

    For cornet, read corner !
  • Ah, corner! I should have guessed but I thought it was a fancy name for a part of the door! I looked in the corner of the glass but it just says safety glass and toughened glass with the kite mark thingy...
