Benefit overpayments. Paying them back.

Are there set protocols for paying a large (but innocently accrued by an elderly couple) benefit overpayment back?

  • Too vague a question - are you asking about the rate at which they need to repay? If they are unable to meet the repayments, they should ask the DWP if they can reduce them, and submit an income/ expenditure form to show what they have available.
  • Is this the same couple as your other thread? If so, the LA/ DWP would expect them to realise their assets in order to pay their debts.
