DLA to PIP help.

Hi, I am posting on behalf of a friend. Said friend recently had to reapply for DLA which was awarded until 2017. But she has been hearing about the change over to PIP and is wondering if this will affect her. She's the same age as me 27. This new award was given about 5 weeks ago. If this does affect her what can she expect?

It will affect her (if she carries on claiming).
PIP is due to come in over the next few years.
The current timescale is this will have finished by 2016, though who knows.
New claimants from April next year will have to go onto PIP, not DLA.

The timescale for switching people onto a new benefit is rarely published in detail.
They do not typically say things like 'If your NI number ends in 08, you will be reassessed on March 23rd 2014'. There may be a bias that peoples normal reassessment dates are preferred, but these are only a guideline, and you can be reassessed at any time.
The first you will generally know is a letter on the doormat.
