Advice needed please

Hi Guys,

I will keep names and places anon for the purposes of not wanting to be slanderous.

If possible i would like some informal advice, my partner enrolled on a construction course last september which has encountered a catalouge of errors from day one!!

In short rumours have it, that instead of the course being completed in May/June 2007 they are talking of extending it until approx December 2007. This is all well and good but the course is run over three days and my partner has used/scheduled all of his annual leave with his employer to attend the third day each week.

This would have been ok should the course finish May/June, hopefully he would qualify and everything would be ok. Since starting the course he was supposed to complete 16 modular exams but the institute are unable to issue these as they are not accredited by the awarding body (i.e.) bpec, CITB etc

As well as the modular exams there is a final exam which requires completion prior to a technical certificate being issued.

The course by their own admission has fallen behind due to a lack of materials to complete practical work because of funding problems.

Does anyone know where my partner stands? He feels he will be at a distinct disadvantage as he will miss out on vital time in regards to theory and practical work and could well affect the qualification.

Does anyone know if my partner could sue for failing to supply what was promised at the begininning of the course and also ask for compensation to be considered for all of his annual leave which he has used to attend the third day each week.

Any help would be appreciated.

don't really have any advice - but it might be worth putting something to the uni in writing about your concerns so that they can explain what the situation is. it would be better to be certain about facts rather than starting something based on rumours. even if it involves speaking to someone about it and noting names, dates, comments etc, that would help in any complaint more than hearsay
