Also, take “buddy up” out of your advert headline. I think that term is used for someone who wants to share a room to cut costs, rather than someone who is looking for their own room in a shared house.0

Rightmove also lets you look for House Shares you first have to put in your preferences, area, min/max rent and search you can then select house share from the options on the left. Also bare in mind i could be worth looking for a max £700pcm then select house share as some places might be listed with the full price not the room price.0

Take out that whole "dislikes" paragraph: it's not giving a good impression. You've noted that you have a pet but don't say what it is. I reckon that's your stumbling-block right there.0

I think you come across well in your advert.
I'd remove your dislikes... could you really not tolerate to live with someone who watches TV programs you don't like? Or is that just your personal preference but happy to compromise over TV viewing?! Definitley move the no-smoking up to the dislikes section too.
Also I'd move your "experienced house sharer" further up... these are good points and what people will want to know initially.
Don't take it personally... I think supply and demand is imbalanced.
If you're already not seeing eye-to-eye with this girl then best to move on I think. You are going to restrict it if you have to have en-suite.
The thing that jumps out at me is in About me - Any pets? Yes. However, you make no mention of any pets in your description.
I have a guinea pig but hoped people would at least try to meet me before they dismiss my ad because I have what some people think of as a "smelly, noisy rodent" or think that I would be needing loads of space for him. I hoped that if I didn't actually lie and then when we met I could talk about it at the viewing.0 -
Right well I've tried to think about it from EVERY perspective .......
This is the final version!

I looked at the advert and wished that you were nearer me. I am looking for a lodger in Accrington.
Then I saw you had a maximum age of 40 for the housemate so if I had been looking at the ad would have dismissed it since I am older than that. My last lodger was 28 and we got on really well. I don't think age has much to do with it really.
Apart from that the ad is fine. Good luck with itLife is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.0 -

Altering age range as we speak. I dont care if the person is 1000 years old but spareroom insists on having you scroll down and that was as far as I scrolled on that particular night.0 -

That did make me laugh. I can see you have a sense of humour despite wanting to screamLife is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.0 -
I've only just seen this thread so I didn't see your original ad, but your new one looks fine (apart from the maximum age which you said you are going to change).
I think it is just a question of time simply because most house sharers are in their early twenties and enjoy an active alcohol-fuelled social life which you don't. My friend rents his flat to a couple of women around your age and it was quite difficult replacing one who left a few months ago, but he managed to in the end, it just took a couple of months.0 -
Oh, and have you tried Easyroommates.com? My friend found that the people on their were less likely to be students than on Spareroom and he actually found his replacement via the site.
The strange thing is that the person who was staying at the flat put an advert which was very similar to yours on both Spareroom and Easyroommates and when she contacted suitable flatmates, most of them didn't reply just like what has happened to you and she couldn't understand why. But she managed to find a great flatmate in the end, as I said, so you just need to be patient.
Edit: have just seen on your OP that that you use it.0
