We are travelling to Blackpool by train from Euston Mon lunchtime, I didn't reserve seats I forgot, but wonder now whether I should of? Is it likely the train will be so busy we'll have to stand? As you can tell I haven't travelled by train for a very long time and really have no clue how busy or not it will be. thanks for any info..:T

  • I would have thought it would be quieter now the kids have gone back to school, are you coming up for a holiday? I don't live in Blackpool any more but in an adjacent town

What kind of tickets have you bought? When and how did you buy them? When you've got fixed travel plans it is usually best/cheapest to buy "Advance" tickets - these automatically come with seat reservations so it is surprising that you say you don't have any.

I wouldnt worry about it to be honest.

I believe that even when you reserve seats, it say on the train t&cs that reserving them doesnt guarantee you a seat.

Hope you have a good time.
Look out for special offers on line, Blackpool is a total ripoff when it comes to prices.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

  • It's pretty unlikely the train will be busy - if you get on and find most of the seats are reserved walk down the train, they tend to put the reservations together and leave whole coaches unreserved elsewhere in the train.

Are you arriving at Blackpool North or South? You have to change at Preston whatever, but there are more trains to North and also plenty of taxis.

Where's your B&B? As you're staying for a few days it's well worth getting a 'saver' ticket for Blackpool Transport then you can use the trams and buses whenever you want - their website has the prices and where to buy them from (you can order online but they come in the post so there might not be time).

Blackpool does have some pretty grotty streets around the town centre but the prom itself is good and it's worth heading north to Bispham, Cleveleys and Fleetwood (all tram) or south towards St Annes and Lytham (no 7 and 11 buses).

we'll be arriving at Blackpool Nth and the b & b is a few minutes walk away.. we both have Freedom Passes for buses/trams that's assuming we can use them there.. Yes we will change at Preston . I rather fancy Lytham so might take a trip there, the weather forecast isn't looking too good but fingers crossed it won't be too bad..

thanks for the tip about the train I guess we'll be ok there then.
