    Are you sure?!

Currys stores are now doing INTERNET sales in store, where they place an order on the WEBSITE and then process through the tills - not the same process as before where it was ordered for a central warehouse and was only for larger items.

That said, I'm not sure of the DSR implications... I think they might stand, particularly if Jakg says the training pack says so...

The difference is previously, a customer could purchase an item as normal but have the goods delivered from a central warehouse.

Currys / PC World have just rolled out a new system where effectively the colleague can plonk the customer in front of an internet-connected terminal, help them find the product on the side, and the customer can then make an account / pay online / have the item delivered. The order is placed directly with the website, not with the store itself. Certainly, afaik, these are being treated as covered by the DSR's (although a lot of in-store staff won't necessarily know that much about the DSR's)

sounds like a potential grey area, if you are just given access to a computer to place an order online....
interesting to see how it develops in terms of DSR
same with ebay and house of fraser opening shops just for online purchases.
  • Yep, very grey. If they have the item in stock or on display in the store but order it online I'd suggest it was not subject to DSRs.

If it's "out the back" then I guess it is anyone's guess!

As far as I know, orders placed through online-in-store sales are treated as web sales and subject to DSR. Mainly because it's easier - the same information can be sent to every customer without having to work out which ones were done in store and which weren't. However, it is also entirely possible that the TV was ordered using the normal in-store systems. If you got a till receipt, then it wasn't done via the website.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
